Have you ever noticed how you feel after using your phone? Does your mood change?

Poof! It's Day 5!

Today, we’re diving into how screen time affects us emotionally. It’s easy to get caught up in using our phones without thinking about how they’re impacting our mood, but our devices can influence us in subtle ways.

Have you ever picked up your phone to check something quickly, and then ended up feeling more drained or anxious afterward? Or maybe sometimes you feel energized and inspired? The key here is to start paying attention to how your phone use makes you feel, both before and after.

Your challenge today is simple, but powerful: every time you pick up your phone, take a brief mental note of how you’re feeling in that moment. Are you bored, stressed, anxious, or excited? After you’re done using your phone, check in with yourself again. Did your mood change? Do you feel better, worse, or the same?

To help make this easier, you can even jot down a few notes in a journal or phone app about your mood before and after phone use. You might start to see patterns that can guide you in making more intentional choices about when and how you use your phone.

At the end of the day, reflect on what you noticed. Were there particular activities or apps that left you feeling more positive or negative? How does your phone use impact your overall mood and energy levels?

This is not about judgment—it’s about awareness. The more you know about how your phone affects your emotions, the more mindful you can be about when and why you use it.

In the comments, share your reflections. How did your mood change throughout the day based on your phone use? Were there any surprising patterns?
